AREAS OF SPECIAL INTEREST

Promoting the development and recognition of the value of citizen advocacy. Seeking ways to achieve legal status for independent advocacy and government funding to support its infrastructure. CAIT is particularly interested in ensuring that “hard to reach” groups including older people, people from ethnic minorities and children, refugees have access to citizen advocacy.

NETWORKING

CAIT’s management committee includes representatives from: Mencap; Barnardos; The Kings Fund; The Patients Association; the LSE and One-to-One. CAIT is currently leading a process of developing a London-wide advocacy resource to encourage advocacy groups to share and develop resources and work together to strengthen London’s advocacy sector. CAIT also acts as advisors to the BILD CA project and the RNIB peer advocacy project and other initiatives.
